Traditions

12/17/14

All kinds of different traditions exist. For example, fireworks on Fourth of July, turkey at Thanksgiving, cake on your birthday, and so on and so forth. These are all great traditions that have been handed down for generations and for decades. Today though I wanted to talk about the traditions that Sarah and I have for the holidays, primarily Christmas.

This man and women decorate their house like this every year.

Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I love the traditions that Sarah and I have. Every year we drive around town and look at all the pretty lights that people put up for Christmas on their homes and in their yards. We also visit this Christmas village in Lebanon,TN that you drive through. They have it set up so that you put your car radio on a certain am station where they play Christmas music. They also have live animals for the nativity scene, and at the end handing out candy is, of course, Santa Claus.

We also go to the Opryland Hotel here in Nashville where they decorate their massive hotel with beautiful lights and decor that are very traditional in style. They also have free hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting at different fire pits set up out and around the perimeter of the hotel. While there you can visit their annual ice holiday village all made from sculpted ice. Then finally on Christmas Eve we go to Christ Church located in Brentwood, TN for their midnight candlelight service celebrating the birth of Christ and the season of giving.

What are some of your traditions for the holidays? Whether you believe in God or you're part of another religion or culture, we all celebrate the holidays in some sort of way. We would love to hear from you and know what your traditions are for this time of year. We love learning about other people and what they love to do so, please, feel free to leave a comment below and share with us. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
